Rene Joseph Marcotte March 7, 1928 - February 14, 2012 Rene Marcotte of Estevan, Sask. passed away peacefully in Regina, Sask. on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the age of 83 years. He was born in Torquay, Sask. on March 7, 1928. He spent 17 years working road construction in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Following his marriage to Lorraine in 1953, they moved back to Torquay and began farming and raising their family (Rene's pride and joy). Rene is survived and cherished by his loving family and friends: his spouse Lorraine; children, Lorin (Colleen) and their children Allison Fleming and her children Tyler, Carson, and Eric; Lindsay (Dan) Howard and their children Olivia, Anna, and Caleb; Russell (Jenna) and their children Emily and Zachary; Karen (Ed) Fuchs and their children Shawn (Heather) and Chris (Corrine); Rose Marie (Lyle) Gervais and their children Austin Gervais, Jessica Gervais (Will) and their children Ashton and Hayden; Renee Gervais (Cory) and their children Chloe and Myah; Andrew; Maureen (Brent) Schmidt and their children Jeff St. Onge and Jen St. Onge; son-in-law Brad Hestad and his children Jasmine Hestad and Jeremy Hestad; Marcel; siblings, Clem (Agnes), Norman, Roger (Marie), Emile (Mary), Omer (Christine), Geraldine Gervais, Lorraine (Clem) Hutt, Henry (Caroline), sisters-in-law, Loretta Marcotte and Mary Marcotte; in-laws, Sylvio (Jeannette) Chevrefils, Sylva (Wilma) Chevrefils, Florence (Andre) Croteau, Linda (Edgar) Yarjau; and many nieces and nephews. Rene is predeceased by his father, Arsene and mother, Eva; daughter, Brenda Hestad; grandson Jason Hestad; brothers, Roland, Raymond, Hector; brother-in-law, Edmond Gervais; sister-in-law, Evelyn; father in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Rosalia. Prayers were held on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 7:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Estevan, Sask. The funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Estevan, Sask., by Rev. Norman Marcotte. Interment followed at the Torquay Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. The family appreciates the excellent care Rene received at St. Joseph's Hospital, Regina General and especially the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Regina Wascana Grace Hospice and everyone who visited him there. Thank you to Doug Third for leading the prayers on Friday evening as well as Martha Holzer who played the organ for both services. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Days Inn for their hospitality and generosity. We would like to thank Father Norm Marcotte, Father Rama, and Father Lucy for officiating the funeral and also to Dustin Hall who sang beautifully during the service. Special thanks to the Knights of Columbus, the choir, and the CWL ladies who prepared and served the lunch. Thank you to Clem and Agnes Marcotte and family for the meal they provided.
