聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Kipling as a community, the farming families and the neighbours that surround the town have shared everlasting memories and historical moments since the first few settled in and around the area. Many families have saved their precious memories in forms of pictures, antiques and family heirlooms as the generations pass. Several families have invested their historical lineage and memories of family past through the donation of their inherited assemblage. 鈥淎ll (of the artifacts at the Museum) have been donated, nothing has ever been purchased,鈥 Vern Pusch, member of the Kipling District Historical Society, says of the Museum's large antique collection.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 For an excess of 25 years, the Historical Society has continued a long and tedious journey to conserve as much of the history of our ancestors, their lifestyle and the moments in history that built this community. 鈥淧eter and Pauline Daku have been a big part (of conservation). Pauline has taken thousands of pictures over the years and has donated them to us,鈥 Pusch explains. 鈥淲e want people to enjoy them.鈥

Fundraising events including the BBQ lunch and Museum Day in August are fundamental in the success in maintenance of the grounds and buildings in addition to the inventory and organization of photographs and artifacts. 鈥淲e have employed a summer student in the past to help us get things organized and labelled,鈥 says Pusch. 鈥淚t's a big job!鈥 The Historical Society members have invested their best efforts to fundraise for upkeep costs for maintenance including vinyl and metal purchases for the buildings and mechanic services to repair an existing antique tractor. The Kipling District Historical Society recently made the decision to add a mural to the Museum on the Main building, just one of the 8 buildings collected at the Museum grounds. The Kipling District Historical Society learned of a $5000 grant that could聽 be used toward the cost of the mural and were quick to get started on the application. 鈥淚t was a lot of work, (the Historical Society had to be financially sound ourselves, but we did get the Canada 150 Mural Grant for the Historical Society,鈥 explains Pusch. 鈥淟orne Rygh was the driving force behind getting the grant for us. The grant and the mural would not be there if it weren't for Lorne.鈥 Lorne will be remembered by the Historical Society members in the mural, keeping their promise to have the combine red in colour, 鈥淟orne insisted that it should be red because his tractors were red!鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The community and visitors to the BBQ lunch helped to raise a significant amount of money for future Museum needs. 鈥淎t noon the BBQ couldn't keep up, we had a really great turnout,鈥 Pusch adds, 鈥渙ne of the best in years.鈥
