Stanley Eugene Blackstock June 30, 1930 - March 12, 2011 Stanley Eugene Blackstock, age 80 years, late of Estevan, Sask., passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, Saturday, March 12, 2011. Stan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maxine (Micki), Estevan; their family, sons, Carl Blackstock, Scott (Kathy) Blackstock, Estevan; daughters, Taryn Blackstock, Lakefield, Ont., Tracy (Cam) Genaille, Russell, Man.,, son Gil (Terena) Blackstock, Estevan; 9 grandchildren, Brett, Kalah, Jessie, Jaryn, Nevyn, Jason, Stacy, Stephanie and Logan; 4 great grandchildren, Dora, Teanna, Mathilda and Tyson; sister, Pat Brophy, Prince George, B.C., his aunt, Millie Gaudry, Lethbridge, Alta.; sisters-in-law, Joy (Glen) Smith and Donna Wright of Virden, Man., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Stan started in the Alberta oilpatch at age 17 and became one of the youngest rig toolpushers ever. Moving around in the oilpatch, Stan met his wife Micki in Virden, Man. Stan and Micki started Sebco Diamond Coring Co. Ltd. in 1960 and moved to Estevan in 1961 where they raised their five children. Stan and his wife Micki successfully ran Sebco Coring through the various oilfield booms and busts, for 45 years. Following his retirement, Stan insisted on being kept informed by his sons on what was happening in the oilpatch. He also loved ice fishing and kept busy in his little work shed, building wooden toys and models. Stan's greatest love in life was his wife and their children and grandchildren. His sense of humour and his loyalty made him many lifelong friends. Always ready with a funny story, a practical joke or a magic trick, Stan greatly enjoyed putting a smile on someone else's face. Everyone that knew Stan has their own little story that will bring a smile to their face whenever they remember him. A Celebration of Stan's life was held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 in the Taylorton Room at the Days Inn, Estevan. Arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. Thank You The family would like to thank Bud Schultz for the many kind words and stories he shared. We would also like to thank Dr. Bredenoord, the Home Care health nurses and aids for the time and care they gave to Stan on their visits to his home. Thank you to everyone for the cards, flowers, phone calls, e-mails, visits, food and comfort they gave during this difficult time, to Allan Styre and Hall Funeral Services for their kindness and compassion, and to Melodye and staff of Days Inn for all their arrangements. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make donations to a charity of their choice in memory of Stan Blackstock.
