Suspect arrested for 2015 home invasion

Police seek public help in identifying second suspect

A Yorkton man has been arrested in a year-old home invasion case.

Nathan Ortynsky is accused of being one of two men who while wearing masks kicked in the front door of a home on Sunset Drive North on the evening of October 22, 2015. Inside they allegedly assaulted an elderly couple, tied them up and fled with an undisclosed sum of cash police described as a “large amount.â€

The victims were treated at Yorkton Regional Health Centre for non-life threatening injuries and released the same evening.

Ortynsky appeared briefly in Yorkton Provincial Court this morning and was remanded in custody until November 15. He faces two counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, break and enter, wearing a disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence, two counts of forcible confinement, and two counts of robbery.

The RCMP are still trying to identify a second suspect and are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information can contact the local detachment at 306-786-2400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
