The Provincial Government and Public Libraries Forum Learning Committee announced Friday that the Yorkton Public Library was one of three recipients of funding for the development of Grow with Stories Family Spaces. This announcement fell on Family Literacy Day created by ABC Life Literacy Canada to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related family activities. Melody Wood, YPL head librarian acknowledged the $10,000 donation. “Our director and I worked together to get this grant”. Wood added, “this family space was perfect for those to learn and the money will go to purchasing furnishings, learning games and word books”.
