St. Andrew’s United Church held a World Day of Prayer Service on Friday, March 4th. The World Day of Prayer is a common day of prayer held one day each year and is celebrated by Christians in over 170 countries around the world. Each year, worship service focuses on a different country and a specific theme. On the first Friday of March, then, in services all over the world that country becomes the focus of prayer and understanding. The service for 2011 was written by the World Day of Prayer Committee of Chile and was titled “How Many Loves Have You?” Enduring a devastating earthquake in February, 2010, and two other earthquakes since January, 2011, the women of Chile further encourage us to enter a process that draws us into the bible, into the context of Chile and into the real situations of our lives and communities. The theme for 2012 is entitled “Let Justice Prevail” and will be written by Malaysia.Staff Photo by Craig Boliziuk
