William (Bill) David Pool William (Bill) David Pool, third son of J.C. and Joyce (Kinder) Pool, was born July 11, 1955, in Dumas, Texas and passed away February 6, 2011 at the Regina General Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan, surrounded by family and friends. Bill received his elementary education in Austin, Hereford, and Dumas, Texas, and graduated from Dumas High School in 1973. After graduation, Bill decided to move to the Purple Hill School District of Saskatchewan, Canada to help farm with his grandparents, Ernie and Thelma Kinder. Bill's mother and grandparents had invested in land after the death of Bill's father, so that Bill and his brothers could learn some important life skills. In 1974, Bill married Holly Lee Rutledge, and they lived at Oxbow. They had two children, Tobi Lynn and David William. Holly and Bill separated in 1978. Bill moved to Alameda in 1982 and purchased his grandparents' house. On December 30, 1983, Bill married Margaret Ellen Hannah, and they had three children: Janine Margaret, Daniel Scott and Leah Hannah. Bill worked for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool elevator at Oxbow for 24 years, then opted for early retirement in 1999. After retiring, Bill formed his own company - Loop Services. He kept busy by working as caretaker at the Alameda Rink, doing outdoor maintenance for the Alameda Housing Authority, managing the Moose Creek Golf Course and helping local farmers with seeding and harvest. Since the spring of 2006, Bill had been employed at Murray GM in Oxbow as a Sales Consultant. Bill loved sports, both as a participant and a spectator, and was willing to give any sport a try. Baseball was a passion of his. Bill developed a love of ball at an early age, and played all through his school years. He even pitched a couple of innings during the summer of 2010 with the Oxbow Chiefs at the Twilight Baseball Tournament in Estevan. He was thrilled to participate in the Home Run Derby as the team representative. When Bill wasn't playing baseball, he enjoyed coaching softball in Oxbow and baseball in Estevan. Bill was a member of the coaching staff of the Estevan AAA Peewee Team that represented Saskatchewan at the Nationals in Prince Edward Island in 2002. Almost every year Bill coached a team at Provincials. He spent a few seasons coaching the Southeast Angels, and was so happy and proud of the girls when they made it to Westerns in Winnipeg. Most recently, he had enjoyed working with the Oxbow Angels and was looking forward to them achieving much success. Bill's coaching sense developed over the years, and he created a bond with every player. They respected his knowledge, loved being dignified by his respect and patience for them, and learned to enjoy his nicknames and teasing. Bill will always be remembered for his love of life, unconditional love of family and friends, and his fondness for teasing, visiting, and learning new things. Bill wasn't just a spectator in life - he was an active participant. He was passionate about everything he did, whether it was arguing with an umpire or wearing a suit to the elevator on his last day of work. Bill was known for being open, genuine, competitive, and unafraid to express his opinion, though he never held a grudge. Bill had a gift for cooking, giving advice, putting others first (especially children), and injecting humour into life. Bill is greatly missed by his wife, Margaret, of Alameda; five children, Tobi (Jason) Johnstone of Weyburn, David Pool of Alida, Janine Pool of Spiritwood, Danny Pool of Alameda, and Leah Pool of Regina; five grandchildren; Brittany and Dylan Nielsen, and Paige, Brooklynn and Brayden Pool; mother, Joyce Pool of Amarillo, Texas; brother, Mike (Karen) Pool of Pittsboro, N.C.; sister Patty(Bob)Akins of Amarillo, Texas; two uncles; Bill (Beverly) Pool, of Morse, Texas, Kenneth (Janice) Pool of Frederick, Okla.; two aunts, Louise Creekmore of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Betty Beck, of Dumas, Texas; many in-laws; Jim and Olive Hannah of Frobisher, Sask., Art (Connie) Hannah of Oxbow, Sask., Betty-Anne (Ron) Block of White City, Sask., Doug (Suzanne) Hannah of Balgonie, Sask., as well as numerous nieces and nephews and lots of friends.
