William Robert Pater April 28, 1932 - December 28, 2011 We are saddened to have to report the passing of William (Bill) Pater on December 28, 2011 in Regina, Sask., at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by his parents, John and Barbara Pater, and his nephew, Randy Keen (who at one time had played for the Estevan Bruins #17). Bill is survived by his sister, Lesia (Gabe) Keen; Nephews, Kim, Dana (Gail), Darrell and Derek (Kendi); great nephews and nieces, Justin, Robin, Alison, Kole and Kahli; Goddaughter, Leigh-Ann (Darrel) Tessier of Estevan, and good friends, Sandra (Vince) McGillicky of Estevan, and Edward Slabick Jr. of Benson, Sask. Bill was born in Winnipeg, Man., on April 28, 1932, and because his Dad worked for the railroad, his childhood was spent in numerous communities across Saskatchewan. Bill went on to work on the railroad himself, spending 39 years in Estevan working for CP Rail before retiring and moving to Regina. He made many good friends across the province and enjoyed coin and stamp collecting as well as hunting and being a sports fan. He took numerous trips to major league baseball games, hockey games, trips to Deadwood, S.D., to California and Las Vegas. He was always interested in what his nephews, great nephews and great nieces and Goddaughter were involved in, so he attended many hockey games and dance recitals and Christmas concerts. Funeral Mass was held at St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1757 Toronto Street, Regina, Sask., on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Friends so wishing may make donations in Bill's memory of St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1757 Toronto Street, Regina, SK, S4P 1M5.
