13 year old apprehended by canine unit after break and enter

A male suspect had broken into a condominium complex currently under construction.

REGINA — On Dec. 24 at 1:12 a.m., police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Trombley Street for a report of a break and enter. A security company had reported a male suspect had broken into a condominium complex currently under construction.

Police attended and with the assistance of the air support unit, patrol, and canine, a perimeter was established. The male suspect attempted to flee from the police but was apprehended by a Regina Police Service canine unit. The suspect was arrested without further incident.

A 13-year-old male who cannot be named in accordance with provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The youth will make his first court appearance on this charge in Youth Provincial Court on Feb. 5.
