The Heidelberg Inn in Unity – general manager Lloyd Jones, bar manager Tony Lang and head chef Peter Quan – was described as the “swingingest place to be” in a feature article.
A letter to the editor from Robert W. Page condemned the use of snowmobiles to hunt foxes and coyotes. He asked “How were coyotes and foxes controlled ten years ago, before power toboggans were common?” and suggested a farmer armed with a rifle was sufficient to dispatch any such animal that was proving to be a problem.
A Christmas special at Delta Co-op was co-op canned pop, 10 tins for 99¢. One-pound packages of cranberries were 49¢.

A&W in Unity opened for business.
Wade Rutherford of Unity helped 45 local seniors put up their Christmas lights. In return, he asked for donations to the Senior Lodge project. He was able to present lodge board member Elaine Sperle with a cheque for $700.
Kurt Salewski scored a hat trick in a Wilkie Midget Outlaw 12-2 win over Kerrobert.
UCHS staff and volunteers, with the help of Merv and Sharon Jorgenson of Shop Easy, peeled apples left over from the high school fruit sale. Twenty-four pies were made, frozen and donated to Secret Santa.
Unity and District Chamber of Commerce announced agreements had been signed with landowners and there were six to seven spots available in the two new sign corridors east and west of town.
