WASKESIU LAKE – The Waskesiu Lakeside Music Festival presented by Phantom Light Distillery returns.
Three days are jam-packed with free live music and entertainment, family activities, an Indigenous talent showcase, cabarets, the Original 16 Beer Gardens, a Sunday street fair and more Aug. 25-27 at Waskesiu Lake in Prince Albert National Park.
Friday, Aug. 25 enjoy free live music at the Sunset Stage at the Waskesiu main beach house from 5 to 8:30 pm featuring performances from Sammy Lee Folkersen, Josh Palmer and Jay Semko. That evening, doors open at 8:30 p.m. for a kick-off cabaret at Terrace Gardens on Lakeview Drive in Waskesiu with live music from the Oral Fuentes Reggae Band. A cover of $20 will be charged at the door for this ages 19+ show hosted by Friends of the Park.
Saturday, Aug. 26, the festival’s main stage includes free live outdoor performances from 10:50 a.m. to 10 p.m. Performers include the Longwalkers Drum Group, Lancelot Knight, Eileen Laverty with Kimbal Siebert, Lost Highway Navigators, Lawrence Roy Jr., The Mudd Brothers, JJ Lavallee, Oral Fuentes Reggae Band, Sammy Lee & Friends and the Velvet Threads. Main stage performances conclude with the energetic, emotional and infectious music of festival headliners, Heidi Munro and The RealGroovyBand. There’ll be a variety of food and merchandise vendors, loads of free activities for kids and families, and the Original 16 Beer Gardens.
Saturday, Aug. 26 finishes with an after-party cabaret at Terrace Gardens featuring Bombargo. Doors open at 9 p.m. and music starts at 10 p.m. The after-party cabaret, hosted by the Grey Owl Center, is for ages 19+ and will have a cover charge at the door.
Sunday, Aug. 27 from noon to 5 p.m. the Lakeside Festival Street Fair takes place on Lakeview Drive in Waskesiu across from the main beach. Enjoy more free entertainment with six bands/artists including an Indigenous talent showcase from noon to 3 p.m., live music, merchandise vendors, kids’ activities, food vendors and new this year, a Waskesiu car show.
The Waskesiu Lakeside Music Festival hosts approximately 4,000 people and would not be possible without the support of sponsors like Phantom Light Distillery, Great Western Brewing and the Government of Canada. The Waskesiu Lakeside Music Festival is volunteer-led and hosted by the Waskesiu Recreation Association (WRA) – a non-profit organization focused on providing quality recreation and event opportunities for visitors and residents of Waskesiu. The WRA is most well-known for the Little Al’s Mini Golf – a nature-themed mini golf course that reflects the character of Waskesiu and Prince Albert National Park.
