NORTH BATTLEFORD - A special meeting of North Battleford city council on Monday saw council vote in favour of a purchase of a land parcel in the north end of the city.
The purchase involves land on 2732 99th Street. The location currently sits as an empty lot across from the stretch of road heading north out of the city.
City Manager Randy Patrick explained at the meeting that the city had sold that land a couple of months ago, but the original buyer has withdrawn its offer.
Another purchase request has come in from the new buyers NationsWest group of companies along with Wayne Semaganis. It was confirmed the bid was higher than the previous one, and there was nothing constraining the city from being able to sell the property, Patrick said.
But the closing date for the deal was urgent: the next day at noon.
“We have to do this fairly quickly, it has to be done by tomorrow, so that’s why we’re having a special council meeting,” said Patrick.
The resolution at the special meeting, which was largely conducted over the Zoom platform, passed unanimously.
