REGINA - The New Democrats have announced they have nominated Kaitlyn Stadnyk to run in the Lumsden-Morse By-Election.
Stadnyk was nominated at a nomination meeting Friday night in the seat formerly held by the Sask Party’s Lyle Stewart. She grew up on the family farm near Lumsden and is currently completing a Bachelor of Human Justice degree at the University of Regina. She has also been involved with numerous non-profits including the John Howard Society.
“I am so thankful for the support of the members here in Lumsden-Morse,” said Stadnyk in a statement. “We need to work collaboratively with our small towns and communities to bring back local voices so that we can build a brighter future for everyone in Saskatchewan. The opportunity to build right here at home is high. What we need now is a government that is ready to deliver on the promise of Saskatchewan.”
Last week, the Saskatchewan Party nominated Blaine McLeod to be their nominee in the byelection. The seat has long been held by the Saskatchewan Party.
With the nomination of Stadnyk the New Democrats now have two of the three candidates in place for the upcoming byelections. On Monday night June 12, the NDP in Regina Walsh Acres will select their nominee in a contested nomination.
Dates for the byelection have not been set. The expectation is those could be called any day.
