MELVILLE — There’s nothing wrong with trying something new.
That’s the theme of a TV show called Go/Nitro which has been in production since 2019. It features two hosts who try different sports at a high level for the first time. Essentially they learn from a professional instructor, then take those lessons and try and beat their instructor. They also work out with the team they are profiling and try to keep up.
The family friendly show puts an explanation point on the idea everyone has a first time. Learning something new can be very difficult, but with the time, hard work and the right instruction anyone can learn something new.
The show is owned by Melville based SKYCRON, and had been building an audience for a number of years. Now, it has a syndication deal with NBC Universal in the US, which will air the show in major markets like Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles, as well as Las Vegas, Boston, Orlando and Phoenix. The move has the potential for the show to reach an audience of 100 million people.
“We license the show to NBC and syndicate it ourselves,” explains SKYCRON CEO Cory Carlick. “We own the show, the masters, and fill the advertising. It is produced in Saskatchewan at our studios and we feature Saskatchewan talent as much as we can.”
In season one, the show hit sports like NASCAR with driver Alex Tagliani, as well as NCAA basketball. The show has also featured Saskatchewan teams like the Saskatchewan Rattlers and Saskatchewan Rush.
