YORKTON – The Yorkton Business Improvement District held their final June Day on the 29th.
The cultural event celebrations highlighted Jamaican, Vietnamese, Philippine, Ukrainian, South Asian, Nigerian and Canadian cultures every Thursday over course of the month.
"Everything went extremely well," said Doug Hull, Chairperson of YBID, in an interview with Yorkton This Week, adding, "every week just kind of got better and better."
Hull said that rough estimates had around 500 people in attendance on the high end with no less than 300 people coming out for the events on the lower end.
"The impact to the community was great — it was very well received," said Hull.
Hull said YBID's next big project will be the Santa Clause Parade, which takes place during the winter months.
Hull said YBID will continue its work downtown over the summer.
"During the summer we have the Clean Sweep program running with SaskAbilities and the maintenance of our flower plant program," said Hull.
As for next year's June Days, Hull said anyone interested in having their culture highlighted should contact YBID.
"If any other cultures is wanting to get involved with June Days next year, get a hold of Donna at YBID and we'll make it happen for you."
