GRANDMOTHER'S BAY - Stanley Mission RCMP report that a man has been charged following a firearm-pointing incident.
On April 15 at approximately 8:45 a.m., Stanley Mission RCMP received a report that a firearm was pointed at individuals at a residence in Grandmother’s Bay, Sask.
Officers from Stanley Mission RCMP Detachment, La Ronge RCMP Detachment and Saskatchewan RCMP La Ronge Crime Reduction Team responded.
The investigation determined that an adult man had pointed a firearm at individuals in a truck in front of a residence in Grandmother’s Bay.
Officers did not immediately locate the male suspect. Officers searched the male’s residence and located an imitation firearm.
A short while later, officers located the suspect’s vehicle abandoned in a wooded area south of Grandmother’s Bay.
Officers used a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), commonly referred to as a drone or unmanned aircraft, to search the surrounding area. Officers subsequently located the suspect and a second man fleeing through deep snow.
Officers arrested both men. As a result of investigation, a 39-year-old man, of Grandmother’s Bay, is charged with:
- one count, pointing a firearm;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon;
- one count, carrying concealed weapon; and
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The second man was released without charges.
The accused made his first appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court on April 17.
