NORTH BATTLEFORD — The last regular season games for the Battlefords North Stars were a home-and-home series against Kindersley Klippers on March 15 weekend, winning both. From there, it’s straight to the Sask. Junior Hockey League playoff season.

Kennedy Schmidt from the North Stars office says, “Playoff tickets went on sale March 18 starting with season ticket holders, and the remainder were released at noon to the general public.”

Schmidt also adds, “We were at Ultra Print handing out and signing Go Stars Go posters on March 18 afternoon. “

The North Stars are set to begin their best-of-seven series against Weyburn with their two opening games on the road March 21-22. Games three and four are on home ice, March 25-26, with both games having a 7:30 p.m. start. Games five to seven will rotate between Weyburn and Access Communications Centre.

In the 2023-24 season, the Battlefords SJHL team won their quarter-finals in four straight against the Mustangs but lost to the Bombers in the semifinals. Fans are pumped about the prospect of having their team repeat the 2022-23 season success when their home team ran the table, winning the league and advancing them to the Centennial Cup, the national championship.

The Junior A hockey team celebrated its 50th anniversary in June of 2023. What a fitting way to kick off the 51st year than earning a playoff spot.

Fans can follow updates on the North Stars website or Facebook page as well as the SJHL website and Facebook pages.
