To meet a new provincial requirements, the North East School Division will have to pay $95,000 to buy and install new flag poles to fly the provincial flag.

MELFORT — The North East School Division will have to come with $95,000 to buy and install flag poles to meet a new requirement for the Saskatchewan provincial flag to be flown outside of schools.

The schools of the NESD currently have a flag of Canada but not of Saskatchewan outside its school buildings.

The province is not providing these funds to install the flag poles. This would come out of the division's funds, said Stacy Lair, the division's director of education.

At its Nov. 21 meeting, the board of education decided to table the discussion to a later date.
