BJORKDALE — The Bjorkdale School held their annual Telemiracle tea and were able to raise $1,907.75 for Telemiracle 2024.
All the school kids were able to paint artwork and local artist brought in a few paintings and over 40 paintings were auctioned off.
The under 13 Porcupine Plain Blues played against the Tisdale Ramblers in Bjorkdale on Feb. 14. Bjorkdale locals Aubrie Johnson and Vidalia van Hasstert played on the Porcupine Plain Blues team and Karsten and Decklan Kehrig play on the Tisdale Ramblers team. It was a close game but Porcupine Plain claimed victory.
The Bjorkdale school senior boys curling team went to the North East Sask Schools Athletic Conference competition in Melfort on Feb. 12. The team included Garrett Babcock as skip, Nathan Horn as third, Talon Kipling as second and Grayson Vecchio as lead. They played four games and won two of them and lost the last two.
The Bjorkdale skating rink hosted a skate with the Trojans day on Feb. 13. Kids were able to practice and have a mini scrimmage with all the players. Due to the recent ice plant failures in Hudson Bay, the under 13 Hudson Bay Hunter played Game 1 of the first round of their playoff series against Kinistino at the Bjorkdale rink. The Kinistino Tigers battled the Hunters to a 4 - 4 tie on February 23.
The under 11 Bjorkdale Bruins have 2 home games left. Sunday, March 3 and 10 at 11 a.m. Come out and watch some hockey action.
The final bonspiel of the season is set for March 9. The Family Funspiel is for all skill levels. Come out and support the Bjorkdale Curling Club. Contact Michelle Hamel to register a team.
The Bjorkdale Library is organizing a fundraising bingo night on Friday, March 22. Get your bingo dampers out and come support the local library and have a chance to win big at bingo.
