MELFORT — The Melfort Ag Society’s fair will be returning this July, after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Keeping in line with previous years, the fair is expected to include the full midway by West Coast Amusements, horse shows, chariot races, beer gardens and entertainment over all three days.

According to Kim Eskowich, manager of the Ag Society, it’s going to be a fun event, hopefully without any rain this year.

“Restrictions lifted and the desire to put it on we had very strong support for putting it on again this year,” Eskowich said.

“Everybody’s looking forward to getting back at it, we’ve had nothing but positive reactions announcing that we’re going ahead.”

The main grandstand attraction on July 23 will be the band Stampeders. Stampeders are a Juno Award-winning Canadian classic rock band, with hits including Hit the Road Jack, Sweet City Woman, and Wild Eyes.

Another confirmed show is the Laughing Loggers, a lumberjack entertainment show that will be available over the three days.

The Melfort Fair will take place over July 22-24.

One major change this year is that advance midway tickets will not be available at the fair office. West Coast Amusements has gone to an on-line purchase platform.

Eskowich said people will continue to be able to purchase in-person tickets at the midway.
