The Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters Humboldt and Area, are once again hosting a Halloween drive-thru.
It starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31 at the chamber’s office at the campground. There is a silver collection which goes towards Big Brothers Big Sisters
Brent Fitzpatrick, the chamber’s executive director, said last year, as a reaction to the pandemic, they organized the drive-thru in half a week. From there, they handed out more than 6,500 treats in 275 bags for trick-or-treaters.
“It was just a perfect event and my belief is if it works once, you do it again,” he said.
The event also raised a few hundred dollars for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The chamber is asking for donations of candy and money for the Halloween drive-thru. Cash donations will be used to buy candy from the chamber’s members.
“It's just such a fun event,” Fitzpatrick said. “It's not a business thing but there's things that you do as an organization in the community because it's a good thing to do and it's fun to do. This is one of those events.”
