A man charged in connection to a major drug bust where an RCMP officer was shot had his charges out of Regina, Biggar and Lumsden moved to the appropriate court jurisdictions.

Kurt Miller, 39, appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court Aug. 18.

Regina Police arrested Miller during a traffic stop in May and charged him with possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and breach of probation.

He faces drug charges out of Lumsden from February 2020.

Milleralso faces charges out of Biggar after RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit executed a search warrant in May on a home he owns in the R.M. of Glenside about 27 km north of Biggar.

During the search, police found methamphetamine, fentanyl, GHB, Xanax pills, LSD, numerous weapons including a semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun, a sawed-off double-barrel shotgun, a spent anti-tank weapon, a revolver and body armour. They also found $16,080 in Canadian currency,Ìýmoney counters, eight cell phones, computers, tablets, andÌýpackaging for drugs.

After being arrested, Miller first appeared in Regina Provincial Court before the matter was transferred to Saskatoon Provincial Court.

Since then, the court has been sorting out jurisdictions and the federal Crown prosecutor temporarily issued an arrest warrant for Miller in order to preserve their jurisdiction. This is a move seldom used by Crown prosecutors.

An RCMP officer was shot when they were preparing to execute the search warrant at Miller’s residence north of Biggar. Miller’s co-accused was charged with weapons offences in connection to that incident. The officer was treated immediately for minor injuries.

Miller was released on bail June 2. He hasn’t entered a plea.

Miller is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court Sept. 1 to set a trial date on drug charges from May 2020 out of Regina and drug charges from February 2020 out of Lumsden.

On the charges in connection to the drug bust in the R.M. of Glenside, the matter was moved to Biggar Circuit Court with Miller now scheduled to appear on Sept. 2 to set a trial date.
