Update: Meadow Lake RCMP increased police presence in response to female held against her will

RCMP say three men have been arrested and charged.

MEADOW LAKE — Update Nov 10: RCMP have arrested three individuals after an incident that caused a heavy police presene and hold-and-secures at nearby schools.

“This was a dangerous situation, but we were able to quickly gather the specialized Saskatchewan RCMP resources necessary to rescue the female from harm’s way,” says Sgt. Stephen Hurst of the Meadow Lake RCMP. “I realize the anxiety caused by a large police presence in the city and the hold-and-secures at the schools – I thank the public for following directions and giving us the space needed to safely resolve this incident.”

On Nov. 8, at approximately 1 p.m., Meadow Lake RCMP received a report that an adult female was being held against her will by armed individuals at a residence on the 500 block of 7th Ave West in Meadow Lake.

When officers arrived at the residence, the occupants refused to let them in and barricaded themselves inside. Officers determined a female was being forced to remain in the residence.

As a precaution, five nearby schools enacted their hold-and-secure procedures while this incident unfolded.

With the assistance of multiple Saskatchewan RCMP units, officers entered the residence just after 4 p.m. and safely removed the female. She was not physically injured.

Officers then arrested three males at the scene.

Corey Bouvier, 32, of Meadow Lake is charged with:

  • 1 count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, resist arrest, Section 129(a), Criminal Code
  • 3 counts, fail to comply with release order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code

Kevin Bouvier, 38,of Meadow Lake is charged with:

  • 1 count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code
  • 2 counts, uttering threats, Section 264(1)(a), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, resist arrest, Section 129(a), Criminal Code

Ronald Campbell, 26, of Buffalo Narrows is charged with:

  • 1 count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, resist arrest, Section 129(a), Criminal Code

All three men were also arrested on outstanding warrants. They made their first court appearance on Nov. 10 and will next appear on Nov. 15 in Meadow Lake.

Update Nov. 8, 5:07 p.m.: RCMP say the incident in Meadow Lake has concluded and several individuals have been safely taken into custody. There will be an increased police presence for some time as the investigation continues. Thank you for your cooperation. An update will be provided Tuesday.

Background 1:52 p.m.: Meadow Lake RCMP advise of an increased police presence near 7 Avenue West in Meadow Lake in relation to an ongoing investigation. People are asked to avoid the areas where police are present and follow any police direction provided. 

Nearby schools have enacted their hold-and-secure protocols as a precaution.

RCMP say they will provide an update with more information as soon as they are able. If an increased risk to public safety is identified, they will notify the public.
