MEADOW LAKE - On April 12 Meadow Lake RCMP invited their vital community partners to the detachment for a fish fry and barbecue. Members of Citizens on Patrol, Meadow Lake Community Safety Officer Joe Hallahan, Flying Dust CSO Sarah Bear, and Flying Dust Security members Darren Lachance and Blake Derocher joined the RCMP members for lunch.
Const. Charles Gladue, a supervisor with the Meadow Lake RCMP and a member of Flying Dust First Nation, made a special presentation. Const. Gladue presented Darren Lachance and Blake Derocher with RCMP challenge coins as a thank you for their overall service to the community, but also for their specific work on Feb. 11.
"On this day, the RCMP were dealing with multiple extremely serious aggravated assaults with mobile suspects continuing to commit violent offenses," said S/Sgt Ryan How. "The Flying Dust Security team were essential in making the arrests quickly and safely. Const. Gladue, who is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran, explained the history of the challenge coin comes from infantrymen World War II and is a symbol of comradery and partnership."
