TISDALE — A group of parents at Tisdale Elementary is asking for handwritten notes, cards and drawings from current and former students and their families to thank the school’s teachers.

The request by the Tisdale Elementary School Community Council is part of their plans for teacher appreciation week.

“Every year we do some thank you events for the teachers to show our appreciation for the staff,” said Scott Janke, chair of the council. “We decided what better way to show our appreciation than having some people make thank you cards, drawings from kids or something tangible we can give to them.”

Originally, the council tossed around the idea of sending emails, but ultimately decided it would be less tangible and overload their emails.

“An email is nice, anything saying thank you is nice… but on thank yous there’s something to be said about something a little more tangible.”

Community members are asked to drop-off any notes, cards, drawings at the Janke LLP office or outdoor filing cabinet (#4 – 904 101 Ave W, Tisdale) on or before Tuesday, Feb. 15. The items will be delivered to TES on Thursday, Feb. 17.

On Feb. 11, just days after the request was sent out, Janke said they have received a “pretty good” response from people.

He said that if anybody wants to submit something after the deadline, they’re welcome to bring them to Janke LLP.

“We can make sure that it’s delivered,” he said.

“Is this a thing we do on a year-to-year basis? Probably, I could see that. It’s not a whole lot of work for anybody.”
