Two people charged with the murder of Damian Moosomin are seeking bail.

Defence lawyers for Jannay Blackbird, 32, from Saulteaux First Nation, and Stormy Wapass-Semaganis, 23, from Edmonton, told North Battleford Provincial Court that their clients would be seeking bail hearings at Battleford Court of Queen’s Bench.

Blackbird is charged with second-degree murder and had an appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 27. Wapass-Semaganis is charged with accessory after the fact to murder and appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 22.

Blackbird and Wapass-Semaganis’ matters were adjourned to May for election/plea, and to be spoken to respectively.

Tye Partridge, 23, from Moosomin First Nation, is charged with first-degree murder. He appeared on April 27 and his matter was also adjourned to May for election and plea.

Denver Roy, 36, from Sweetgrass First Nation, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder and appears again in May to speak to the matter.

Melissa Semaganis, 41, from Poundmaker First Nation, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder. She had an appearance on April 27 and the matter was adjourned to May for election and plea.

Moosomin’s body was found in the 1500 block of 105th Street in North Battleford on May 16, 2020. He was reported missing to police on May 11, 2020.

Saulteaux First Nation is about 40 kilometres north of North Battleford. Moosomin First Nation is about 36 kilometres north of North Battleford. Poundmaker First Nation is about 64 kilometres northwest of North Battleford. Sweetgrass First Nation is about 47 kilometres east of North Battleford. Edmonton is about 388 kilometres west of North Battleford.
