Victim hit on the head with hammer on city bus

Officers located a man suffering from injuries consistent with an assault.

SASKATOON - A man was arrested Monday afternoon in relation to an aggravated assault on a city transit bus.

On Sept. 23 at approximately 5:10 p.m., police were called to the 200 block of 23rd Street East for a report of a weapons complaint. Initial information stated a male on a transit bus had been assaulted.

Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from injuries consistent with an assault; he was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The victim explained he was hit on the head with a hammer by another male.

Shortly after, a man matching the description of the suspect was located and arrested in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South. Upon search of his person, a hammer was located. 

As a result, a 23-year-old man is facing charges relating to aggravated assault, and failure to comply with court-ordered conditions.
