Property crime sees decrease in latest crime report for Prince Albert

PRINCE ALBERT - The Prince Albert Police Service presented its crime statistics report for the first quarter of 2025 to the Board of Police Commissioners, which includes a 30 per cent decrease in total property crime.

The first-quarter statistics include the months of January, February, and March and is measured and compared to previous years to identify anomalies or trends.

In the first quarter, there were 650 reports of property crime in the city of Prince Albert.

That is a significant decrease from the first quarter of 2024 when there were 936.

It is also below the five-year average of 768.

Out of the 650 reports this year, 68 of those investigations have resulted in criminal charges.

Break and enters also decreased significantly in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same time-frame last year.

There was a total of 74 break and enters in the first quarter and in 13 occurrences, investigations resulted in criminal charges. The majority of those break and enters were in residential at 36, followed by residential outbuildings at 20, businesses at 13, business outbuildings at four, and one at a church, school, or hall.

Vehicle thefts saw a slight increase. Out of 105 vehicle thefts in the first quarter, 84 of them were recovered and investigations resulted in criminal charges in 12 of those occurrences.

The Prince Albert Police Service would like to remind residents of a few auto-theft prevention tips.

Vehicles are often stolen when the car keys are left inside the vehicle. Residents are reminded to avoid leaving any property inside your vehicle and never leave the car running with the keys inside.
