Water outage causes school closure

Staff and teachers remain at the school.

SASKATOON — Queen Elizabeth School is expected to reopen on Tuesday, March 4, after a water outage in the surrounding areas of Broadway and Eastlake Avenues and Taylor Street East. Residences and several businesses were also affected.

In a statement sent to SaskToday, the SPS said they learned of the water disruption on Sunday, March 2, causing the school to close. They informed the families of all the students on Sunday afternoon. The school staff, including the teachers, remain in contact with their students' families.

The City of Saskatoon said that repairs are scheduled for the following day, and the water will be restored within 48 hours.

Initially, the affected areas were in the 400 and 500 blocks of Taylor Street East, 1905 Eastlake Avenue, 1818 and 1820 Broadway Avenue. Now, the area is reduced to the 500 block of Taylor Street East, 1905 Eastlake Avenue, and 181 and 1820 Broadway Avenue.

Affected addresses should review their yellow drinking water advisory door hanger. After repair, water should be boiled before consumption until the green water advisory lifted door hanger arrives.
