The Wilkie Bowling League gave out their year-end awards: men’s high single - Rudy Hoeft, ladies’ high single – Lorraine Rivett, men’s high average – Gene Girard, ladies’ high average – Kay Weber, men’s high triple – Rudy Hoeft, ladies’ high triple – Rose Reiniger.

RCMP Sgt. Bozek appeared before Unity town council to request that the speed limit on Main Street from 1 st Avenue to 4 th Avenue be reduced to 15 miles per hour.

Wilkie’s Timothy Freistadt, a Grade 12 student, received an honourable mention for his short story “Ant” in a national contest sponsored by the Permanent Trust Company.

McLurg High School’ Youth Business Investment team, students Ryan Kolenosky, Chantz Jaindl and Tarilie Pernitsky, were awarded $2,000 as the winners of Industry Canada’s Inter-Provincial Challenge.

Unity Lions Club members Keith Wilson, Stan Moncrieff, Chad Weiler, John Coid, Ron Wood and Wayne Mauthe joined two Battleford clubs to travel from North Battleford to Saskatoon in a fundraiser for the CNIB. Wilson ran 20 miles, Weiler rode a bike for 38 more, Moncrieff walked for an hour and a half, Mauthe rode a quad while Ron Wood drove the pilot truck. Coid was on refreshment detail.
