DENZIL – Previous bar owners Les Walz, Karen Hanson and Katrina Martfeld made the announcement on March 27 that the Denzil Pub and Hotel has officially been sold. Their last day with the bar will be April 17.
The three of them have owned the bar for the last eight years, and Hanson explained she loved the bar and the experience of owning it. She said she loved the people in general, though she hated the paperwork that came with owning the business. The public has left nothing but positive reviews for the bar during their time owning it, many of them reflecting on the great food, service and environment.

The three of them, despite loving the bar, decided to sell it due to few issues. Although the owners said their age was one reason for selling, the most prominent problem was staffing issues.
Owning the bar was a massive learning experience for the three of them. Hanson explained she learned a whole lot and is still learning from it. Just about every week she says she learns something new. Throughout the years she’s learned a lot about people, customer service, business management and more than enough about the paperwork behind it.
As for what’s next for them, Hanson isn’t sure. Her plan is to simply live life while she can and see where that brings her.
The bar sold to Jennifer Farrell, who will take possession on April 22, and while there is no set opening date, it is currently estimated to reopen a couple of weeks after possession.
