Fall festival fun in Luseland

Luseland was a hub of activity Sept. 10 as more than dozen activities were part of the community's Harvest Festival

LUSELAND — A gorgeous fall day in September paved the way for the perfect party in Luseland as organizers held another Harvest Festival Sept. 10.

For a community with a population of just under 600, the weekend events presented the finest display of community camaraderie with volunteers There was something for every generation offering food, fun and fantastic opportunities to enjoy entertainment right at home.

Luseland Credit Union displayed some wonderful window art while encouraging passersby to partake in sidewalk art creations throughout the day.

Outdoor games were presented at the Delta Co-op location while a kids’ carnival was also offered by the daycare.

Bell Acres held both a lunch-time barbecue to benefit the hall fund as well as a glow golf event starting at dark.

The always popular Smurf train provided rides on Grand Avenue throughout the afternoon.

Luseland’s Museum was a great hub for the afternoon as the fall fair was open for viewing as well as the Women of the Prairies Display. The fall fair included entries of garden produce, children’s art and quilting resulting in a steady stream of people touring the museum that day. The kids’ tractor pull included over 20 participants with everyone receiving a coupon for an ice cream treat.

Families could also enjoy a special movie showing at Luseland Community Theatre. Pioneer Hall hosted a bingo, while the Luseland Library held a rock painting component.

Evening options including participating in glow golf at Bell Acres golf course as well as a beef supper and entertainment, featuring Keely Olfert and Will Ballantyne, at the Ranger Electric location.

Attendees remarked on all of the options available to partake in as well as the opportunity to connect with friends and neighbours while enjoying the event described as “remarkable” by one senior.

Next on the event calendar for Luseland is the MS Bike Tour with Team Flahr encouraging riders to join them for help raise funds for multiple sclerosis by supporting the noon barbecue or adding their donations to the team’s efforts Sept. 17.
