UNITY -- The prediction was the competition would be tough in the U18 D northern provincial final and that prediction was proved out by the result of the first game – a 3-3 tie between the Macklin Mohawks and the Kerrobert Rage, in Kerrobert, March 7. The Mohawks will have home ice advantage for game two, March 16 at 2:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the U18 Porcupine Plain Park Posse out of Rose Valley are doing their best to keep the Wilkie/Biggar National Outlaws from advancing to the provincial B final. The Park Posse won the first game of the northern final series 5-4. Game two is in Rose Valley March 14.
The U13 Unity Lazers, playing in the C division, lost their first game to the Outlook Ice Hawks, in Outlook, 8-5. They are hoping for a big crowd to help them come back with a win in game two, in Unity, March 15 at 7 p.m.
In Hi-Way League competition, the U9 Lazers Team 3 are the U9 Champions. They had to beat their hometown rivals, Lazers Team 2, to claim the banner. The two U9 teams each finished the regular season with 11-3 win-loss records but in the final, it was Team 3 who prevailed.
