New playground equipment coming to Luseland Legion Park

Theatre back in operation and golf course club house expansion is underway.

LUSELAND ‑ There are exciting updates and happenings in the town of Luseland. The pool committee has hired staff for the 2022 season and Belle Dewald will be back to manage the pool. A tentative lesson schedule has been developed but changes may evolve. No private lessons will be offered this season, except for exceptional circumstances such as special needs students. Lesson registration will be at a later date. Stay tuned for information on pool opening on the town Facebook page and the Luseland Swimming Pool page.

The Luseland Legion Park will have some new playground equipment coming this spring. A Luseland Credit Union donation of $25,000 made this purchase possible. Volunteer workers will be doing the installation with a supervisor to reduce costs. The park is looking much improved and is a beautiful spot to have a family picnic and spend the day at the pool.

The Luseland Theatre is back up and running after a long hiatus due to COVID-19. It was a facility much missed by Luseland and the surrounding communities. The first show dates were March 18 and 19. For information on upcoming shows, visit the Luseland Theatre Facebook page. The theatre is also looking for volunteers willing to work booth shifts. It is thanks to the efforts of volunteers that we are able to keep running our local theatre.

Renovations are taking place at the Luseland Bell Acres Golf Course. A clubhouse addition is coming along fast and furious. The 192-square-foot addition on the north end of the building will house a kitchen, washroom and mechanical/water storage room. The expansion will be mostly completed by volunteer labour, with the assistance of journeymen electrician, plumbers and carpenters.

The town of Luseland is hosting the MS Bike Ride and supporting Team Flahr with Flair. The 2021 event was so successful, and we were thrilled the Flahr family wanted to do this in hometown Luseland once again. The event will take place Sept. 17. We will provide more details on the event later in the year.

The Luseland/Salvador Community Hall committee is planning fundraising efforts. They have applied for various grants in order to do a boiler replacement and a much-needed kitchen upgrade. They will be planning an online 50/50 that will start in June but have also decided to take on the planning of the Luseland community-wide garage sale, which is set for May 7. Entry forms may be obtained at the Luseland Credit Union or by contacting Krystal Bazylinski at [email protected]. The hall board will be running a baking table at the hall that day and are looking for some volunteers to help with baked goods. Please contact myself, Kathy Wurz at [email protected] if you would be willing to donate to the bake table or contact me via the town of Luseland Facebook page.
