Nutrien Ag and KidSport Unity: a partnership of inclusion

A partnership of eight years running had Unity's Nutrien location once again present substantial donation to Unity's KidSport program.

UNITY — KidSport Unity recently accepted a cheque from Nutrien Ag for $2,540 which represents proceeds from their annual fertilizer fundraiser.

This is the eighth year Nutrien has committed to this program to benefit the Unity KidSport program. Unity’s Nutrien manager, Lindsay Gampe, is credited for heading this campaign each year and the business’s ongoing support of the KidSport Unity program.

“Over the years Nutrien has given back to Unity KidSport from the sale of lawn fertilizer to ensure all kids can play,” explains Unity KidSport committee member, Nicole Headrick.

“ We are honoured that KidSport continues to touch hearts and as a community continue to ensure our youth can be included on teams, making friendships, and gaining skills for life.”

Headrick notes that they have some exciting ideas planned for spring.

In 2021, Unity’s KidSport program assisted 24 local kids who were sponsored in multiple sports in the community that totaled $6,786.90.

The community charity is entirely funded by donations and fundraising. They are often recipients from Unity’s Donor’s Choice, memorial donations and other groups and organizations that choose KidSport Unity as their beneficiary.

Together with the KidSport Saskatchewan network of local chapters, grants are provided to help cover the costs of enrolment so all kids aged five to18 years in Saskatchewan can play a season of sport.

On the Saskatchewan KidSport home page, one parent’s testimonial states that this program afforded her kids’ opportunities that otherwise would not have been an option.

Donations can be made online at nd selecting the community you want to donate to, or you can drop off your donation with Unity KidSport community members, Nicole Headrick or Arlene Southgate.
