UNITY - The summer season is over for the Unity and District Heritage Museum.
The museum had nearly 500 people view exhibits this summer.
In terms of maintenance, painting was completed on the grounds ‑ four buildings, some doors and a few machines on machinery row. All the vehicles have been put away for winter and the floor in the Behlin Building was graveled.
Until the snow flies, if anyone wants a tour of the museum, they will need to make an appointment through the office or a member. The guys at the shop are still doing projects of their own off and on, and they hope to do some work over the winter months.
The museum is still talking about the winter fundraiser ‑ Sunday pancake brunches ‑ which usually starts in November. Members are waiting to see what protocols are required. This should be clarified in late October, so, for now, the brunches are on hold.
The Unity museum has had several interesting donations lately. Recent donors are Gladys Kelly, Maynard Slater and Butch Boskill. These were mostly items for the shop to use. Donations brought in over the year for display purposes add up to about 261 items. These are now catalogued and already on display.
It has been a tough year with little fundraising funds coming in, but the support the museum has received from the people of Unity and surrounding areas is much welcomed. Museum members hope to continue to serve the community in the upcoming year and beyond.
