UNITY — Two of Santa’s secret elves have jumped into action, helping boys and girls in two communities get their requests into the big guy up north as the postal strike nears the 30-day mark.
Staci Hall with the Kerrobert Library and Breanna Elder of Unity both have connections with Santa Claus and have offered children the opportunity to pass on their wish lists through them.
“I had seen a friend’s post, wondering what would happen with Santa’s letters this year with the postal strike. I decided to offer help at our library after seeing someone mention their library branch was helping out as well,” said Hall.
Elder, who is taking on the task herself, said she is in contact with Santa daily, relaying the messages to him by phone.
“If it gets crazy busy, I have some helpers ready to jump in if I need it,” added Elder.
Hall said she is sending the letters to Santa in a slightly old-fashioned way.
“Santa is old school with his fax machine and not everyone has his number, not that most kids even know what that is nowadays!” said Hall.
For those who wish to get their letters to Santa in Kerrobert are asked to have letters to the library by Dec. 18, and that the responses would be available to pick up before noon on Dec. 24.
In Unity, letters can be dropped off at 551 4th Ave West or emailed to [email protected] before Dec. 21, and make sure a phone number or email address is in the letter to make sure Santa’s reply gets to you.
