Teamwork makes the dream work, UCHS Warriors ready for season

Five Grade 12s are ready to lead the Unity Warrior football team in their 2-A, six-man football league.

UNITY — Unity Composite High School Warrior football team begin practices Aug. 28.

With five Grade 12 players, all with Warrior football experience, on the roster players are excited to start their season.

Jared Abrams, Toby Thompson, Darrian Wildeman, Kyler Kereluk and Shawn Dyck are set to lead their team as seniors.

“We are returning to a 2A six-man league this year,” says Coach Kyle Clark.

“Our league includes Eatonia, Kindersley, Outlook, Rosetown and Biggar. We have a solid core of experienced players and have high hopes for this season.”

They won’t have long to prepare for their upcoming regular season as they open on the road, in Kindersley Sept. 8 and their first home game will be Oct. 5 against Eatonia.

Night lights games are always a big draw from the community as they create an event in conjunction with the high school team’s game. It is extra motivating for players to have additional fans in the stands and the entire atmosphere mimics big city events providing a free, fun, family atmosphere for everyone to experience.

“We are planning a lights game but are just waiting on confirmation from the other teams to see if anyone would be against playing in the evening. More details will come once this is all in place,” says Clark.
