UNITY — The Unity Minor Ball Association held elections in late January, bringing some new faces to the executive team.
Graeme Gieni, previously vice-president, moved up to president after Regan L’Heureux stepped down to take on the role of president with Baseball Saskatchewan. Jason Wagner joined the committee as vice-president, while Steven Schwartz took over as treasurer from Curtis Sieben. Baseball co-ordinator Dan Feser and softball co-ordinator Ryan Greenwald also stepped down this year and were replaced by Mike Wismer and Dean Wildeman, respectively.
Returning committee members include Melissa Sieben, secretary; Sheena Weber, grassroots co-ordinator; Kyle Clark, umpire co-ordinator; and Pat Risling, equipment co-ordinator.
In an interview with SaskToday, Gieni said having new faces on the executive brings fresh perspectives and ideas.
“We are currently beginning to canvas for sponsorship for the upcoming season, and we want to continue to focus on player development with camps this year, umpire recruitment plans and clinics while showcasing the awesome facilities we can use in town. Our goal is to grow the love of the game within the athletes that take part in the activities we offer,” Gieni said.
and season is now open, and the new executives are looking forward to seeing athletes, coaches and supporters out at the diamonds once the snow melts.
