UNITY — The weather outside might have been frightful but the atmosphere at Unity Composite High School May 19 afternoon was delightful.
After a three-year absence, the popular UCHS junior high activity known as Snolympics took place. The absence of snow was not missed and interference from colder temperatures sent the event indoors.
To say the gym was rocking may have been an understatement as all Grades 7, 8 and 9 students enthusiastically participated in Snolympics, under the direction of senior high students and staff.
The event was organized by a small group of Grade 10-12 students during a Warrior Time session and involved fun events and activity in various races, endurance tests and other events around the theme of sports. A sports theme was selected to coincide with the day's Warrior athletic success celebrations.
Some of the afternoon's events included "The Battle of Alberta" tug-of-war, Joe Namath pantyhose bowling and the Super Bowl dodgeball challenge.
Students enjoyed the fun and fellowship that accompanied the team building, school spirit style event while actively cheering on their team throughout the action.
At completion of the afternoon of friendly competition, Team Sandlot were crowned the winners.
