HALIFAX — About 160 faculty, librarians and lab instructors at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax have gone on strike.Â
The university's faculty association said the workers walked out at noon on Monday.
The school's website says classes taught by full-time faculty and lab instructors won't be running during the labour dispute.
In a news release, faculty association president Susan Brigham says the union is seeking wage parity with other Nova Scotia universities.
She says the bargaining process with the board of governors has been slow and frustrating, as the financial offer was only tabled by the school in January.
The Atlantic region has seen other university strikes over the past 12 months, with faculty from Cape Breton University and Memorial University in Newfoundland and Labrador spending time on the picket lines.
