We’re so sad to announce the passing of our dear mother, Joyce Dergousoff. She passed peacefully at the William Booth Special Care Home in Regina, SK, on Friday, January 10, 2025 with her family by her side.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Sam Dergousoff (2022) who together farmed in the Buchanan area for many years before retiring to Yorkton. She played an integral role in keeping the farm running smoothly, from milking cows to planting a huge garden every summer and hauling grain every fall amongst her many other chores. Mom also enjoyed sewing, quilting and painting whenever she had a spare moment to herself. She said, though, that her biggest accomplishment was raising 7 healthy responsible children and seeing them become mothers and fathers with families of their own.
Golfing also gave her many fond memories. Sam and Joyce golfed at many beautiful courses in Canada and the US. They especially enjoyed golfing with their sons and daughters and grandchildren over the years.
Mom was a beautiful Christian woman. She spent many years teaching Sunday School and she held several positions in the Lutheran Church Women’s group in Buchanan. She was instrumental in seeing that all of her children were brought up with Christian teachings and principles. She was a compassionate loving mother, making a comfortable home that her children would always love coming back to. A home with lots of talk and laughter.
Joyce is survived by her 7 children: Rodney (Shirley) Dergousoff, Daryl (Brenda) Dergousoff, Barb (Mel) Graham, Joanne (Jim) Noll, Craig (Sheryl) Dergousoff, Gwen (Mike) Waring, and Colleen (Rod) Geil. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
We’d like to thank Yorkton Home Care and the William Booth staff for their compassionate care. A service for Joyce will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Yorkton Regional Hospital or the Faith Lutheran Cemetery Fund in Buchanan.
