Gayle Hnatuk

The family sadly announces the passing of Gayle Hnatuk of Yorkton on January 30, 2025 at her home in Regina, SK. Gayle was the second youngest daughter of Anthony and Mary (Kitz) Matycio. Gayle was born on September 22, 1949, on a farm in the Goodeve District. In 1953 Gayle’s family moved to Phone Hill District near Yorkton. Gayle attended Phone Hill School and enjoyed life on the farm with her many siblings. Gayle was a social butterfly and enjoyed chatting with anybody and everybody. This is why she thrived in her various positions in retail. Gayle enjoyed baking and preparing meals for her family and friends. She loved the “Calgary Flames” and rarely missed a game on TV, she especially loved it when they won and always had something to critique when they didn’t. Her favorite moments were being with her husband as well as her children and grandchildren. Gayle was predeceased by her loving husband Dale (2013); father Anthony (1996); mother Mary (2001); brother Larry Matisho (2005); and brother Russell (2022). Also, Gayle was predeceased by five brothers-in-law: Frank Kitz, Nick Zenkewich, Eugene Musyj, Willie Pedde and Jim Zakresky. Gayle’s memory will be cherished forever by her children Shondell (Shawn), Lynsay (Brad), and Daelyn (Chris); grandchildren Shelby (Rylan), Mackezee, Kaiden (Jasmine), Jaagger, and Tanner; great-grandchildren Hudson, Ashyn, Mia, and Paisley; brother Elmer (Margaret); six sisters, Lynn Zakresky, Iris Kitz, Myrtle Zenkewich, Shirley Musyj, Bernice Pedde, and Debra (Nestor) Ohryn; sister-in-law Vivian Matisho; and wife of Gayle’s deceased brother Larry Matisho. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Calgary Flames Foundation.
