A Writer’s Odyssey: the benefits of embracing change

I love taking little breaks from my schedule, to give myself a small treat, or a different experience to refresh my soul.

The true value to your life is to try something new, and don’t give up on the things that bring you passion and happiness.

WEYBURN - At times a person needs to feel empowered to say yes to something new or taking a little break from the normal routine of their schedule. There are benefits to embracing change.

There can also be balance by deciding to start small and avoiding the over-the-top mistakes portrayed in the movies “Yes Day”, or “Yes Man”, as saying yes to everything does have consequences.

I love a good schedule, as it makes planning for the upcoming week (or month) so much easier. I also love taking little breaks from my schedule, to give myself a small treat, or a different experience to refresh my soul.

There is always an opportunity to learn and enrich your mind. One of the best Christmas gifts I have ever received was a MasterClass subscription, which allows me to try something new and learn from professionals in that field. There are times when a class will inspire me to be more active and embrace a new hobby.

There are also times that the video was educational, but not something that I want to adopt or add to my life. The joy of these MasterClasses is that I was able to continue to learn, all while in the leisure of my own home.

It is said that if you want to adopt healthy habits that the best way is to take small steps, and change a little at a time.

Sometimes it is hard to stick with the small steps. These are times when you need to look into yourself to see if it is truly important to you. The true value to your life is to try something new, and don’t give up on the things that bring you passion and happiness.

There are also times when what was considered old-fashioned comes back in style. I recently read an article on SASKTODAY.ca about how canning is regaining popularity, as people try to deal with inflation and sky-rocketing grocery prices.

I hope for many of our readers the importance of having a local newspaper never goes out of style. I encourage local businesses and organizations to reach out to us here at the Weyburn Review/Weyburn This Week with news tips and upcoming community events.

When we have more local news to offer, it benefits the whole community. Celebrate our local athletes, actors, business people and community-minded residents by sharing their success stories. We sure appreciate it!
