REGINA - The final count has been completed in the Saskatchewan provincial election, one which has confirmed the Saskatchewan Party's seven-seat majority.
The final seat count is Saskatchewan Party 34, New Democrats 27 following the final count on Saturday. In terms of popular vote, the final count is 244,037 votes for the Sask Party for 52.3 per cent, 188,373 votes for the New Democrats for 40.4 per cent, Sask United 18,023 for 3.9 per cent, Green Party 7,957 or 1.8 per cent, PCs 4,397 for one per cent, Buffalo Party 3,267 for 0.7 per cent, Sask. Progress 536 for 0.2 per cent, and Independents 340 for 0.1 per cent.
All remaining mail in and other ballots have been counted, and there has been no shifts in the seat count since the last preliminary count on Oct. 30.
The final counts are in for the remaining close races and April ChiefCalf has been declared the winner in Saskatoon Westview for the NDP over two-term Sask Party David Buckingham. The final count is 3,576 for the NDP, 3,502 for the Sask Party and 138 for the Green Party, for a winning margin of just 74 votes.
In Saskatoon Willowgrove, new cabinet minister Ken Cheveldayoff has been re-elected but only by a narrow margin over Alana Wakula of the NDP. The final count gives the Sask Party incumbent 4,895 compared to 4,759 for the NDP, 251 for Sask United and 80 for the Green Party -- a winning margin of only 136 votes.
Finally, Alana Ross is confirmed as the winner in Prince Albert Northcote by only 133 votes over Nicole Rancourt of the NDP. The final count was Sask Party 2,892, NDP 2,759, Sask United 302 and Green Party 101.
