REGINA — Sunday, 9 a.m. — Most of Environment Canada's heat warnings for Saskatchewan have been lifted, with south eastern areas and one east central area still stamped red on the map.
There were no thunderstorm watches this morning.
Still under heat warnings are:
Carlyle - Oxbow - Carnduff - Bienfait - Stoughton area;
Estevan - Weyburn - Radville - Milestone area;
Hudson Bay - Porcupine Plain area;
Moosomin - Grenfell - Kipling - Wawota area.
Temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 16 degrees Celsius are expected for the next two days.
Environment Canada says reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.
Saturday, 8 p.m. — It's been hot across the province, with the heat conjuring up thunderstorms, and heat warnings are still in place for southern Saskatchewan. A few areas have thunderstorm warnings as well, as of 6 p.m. Saturday.
Further north, temperatures have moderated, but there is still the chance of thunderstorms in the evening.
Heat warnings have been issued by Environment Canada for:
- Assiniboia - Gravelbourg - Coronach area;
- Carlyle - Oxbow - Carnduff - Bienfait - Stoughton area;
- Estevan - Weyburn - Radville - Milestone area;
- Hudson Bay - Porcupine Plain area;
- Moose Jaw - Pense - Central Butte - Craik area;
- Moosomin - Grenfell - Kipling - Wawota area;
- Outlook - Watrous - Hanley - Imperial – Dinsmore area.
Severe thunderstorm watches have been issued for:
- City of Saskatoon;
- Kindersley - Rosetown - Biggar - Wilkie – Macklin area;
- Leader - Gull Lake area;
- Martensville - Warman - Rosthern - Delisle - Wakaw area.
A double whammy of severe thunderstorm watches and heat warnings have been issued for:
- Outlook - Watrous - Hanley - Imperial - Dinsmore area;
- Shaunavon - Maple Creek - Val Marie - Cypress Hills area;
- Swift Current - Herbert - Cabri - Kyle - Lucky Lake area.
Environment Canada says temperatures in the southwest would remain in the low 30s late in the afternoon, but would moderate throughout the evening.
In the southeast, temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 16 degrees Celsius are expected for the next two days. The area is forecast to see temperatures reach into the low 30s once again Sunday afternoon, before moderating on Monday.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
