After a two week delay, Wascana Winter Festival is on

Wascana was the scene for fun winter activities Sunday.

REGINA - After a brief delay, the Wascana Winter Festival was back on on Sunday, March 2.

The event, which ran from 1 to 4 p.m., had originally been set for Feb. 16 to coincide with the Family Day weekend but the outdoor activities were postponed that day due to extreme cold weather.

But the "snow must go on," and the event took place Sunday with activities including a sleigh ride in Wascana Park. The outdoor Rink on Wascana was also open for public skating and there was cross-country skiing as well. A fitness course was being offered by the YMCA and the Legislature was also open for tours in the afternoon.

Among the unusual activities that took place that afternoon was a contest of what might be Canada's newest sporting pastime: a game of "snow cricket", with players playing a cricket game in the snow.
