REGINA – Police have issued a safety alert to the public after Jason Paul Thorn – who is considered high risk to reoffend sexually – went unlawfully at large.
Thorn, 48, has been living with court-ordered conditions in the Heritage neighbourhood of Regina since he was released from prison on legislated, statutory release on March 31. He has been living at a residence that provides supervision and monitors his activities.
Regina Police Service say that the latest attempt to contact Thorn was unsuccessful and as a result he is considered unlawfully at large. Officers have started an investigation into his whereabouts and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Thorn has a criminal history that includes sexual offences and a history of reoffending, say Regina police.
“He poses a high risk for sexual offences against female children,” said Regina Police in a media release on April 16.
Thorn is described a 5-foot-9 and weighing about 170 pounds. He has a medium build, brown eyes and greying black hair.
Regina police say this warning is intended to enable members of the public to take suitable preventative measures, not to embark on any form of vigilantism or other unreasonable conduct directed at this individual.
