REGINA – A man who allegedly took Regina police officers on a pursuit on April 6 was remanded in custody after his first court appearance on April 7.

Zachary Louis Blacksioux, 27, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court again on April 11 by CCTV.

According to Regina Police Service, at about 9:35 p.m. on April 6, officers spotted a vehicle, which they believed was involved in a previous incident in the area of Rae Street and 4th Avenue, and attempted to stop the vehicle. Officers activated their emergency lights but the driver fled at a high-rate of speed.

The Regina Police Service Aerial Support Unit (ASU) tracked the vehicle going northbound on Pasqua Street, and eventually exiting the city. With help of ASU, officers on the ground deployed a tire deflation device on a grid road northeast of Regina.

The vehicle continued travelling northbound until members of the Regina Police Service Tactical Support Unit successfully stopped it. Two suspects were located inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested without incident, while the passenger, who refused to exit the vehicle, was safely apprehended with the assistance of a Police Service Dog. The suspect was then taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries from the dog bite.

Blacksioux was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Terrell Storm Nahnepowisk, 24, was charged with resisting arrest. He makes his first appearance in court on May 8.
