Bear spray discharged in robbery in Saskatoon

At around 6:30 p.m. on April 24, police were called to a mall in the 3300 block of 8th Street East for a report of bear spray being discharged inside one of the stores within.

SASKATOON - Police are investigating after bear spray was discharged inside a mall yesterday evening.

At around 6:30 p.m. on April 24, police were called to a mall in the 3300 block of 8th Street East for a report of bear spray being discharged inside one of the stores within.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a male and female were attempting to leave the store with stolen merchandise when an employee confronted them at the exit; the suspects then discharged bear spray into the employee’s face and fled the area.

The victim was treated on scene by paramedics for injuries consistent with the effects of bear spray.

A search of the area did not locate the suspects; however, video evidence was obtained and police are continuing to investigate.
